Meet Dr. Canas
Dr. Yessica Cañas
Dr. Cañas grew up in the city of Brighton, Colorado. She attended the University of Colorado
Boulder where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Physiology with a certificate in
Public Health. During her time at Boulder, she became an active member of Pi Lambda Chi
Latina Sorority Inc., and the dance group, Grupo Folclórico de Boulder. Dr. Cañas received her
doctorate degree from Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry. She was a
member of the American Optometric Student Association, American Academy of Optometry
Student Fellow since 2017 and Student Chapter of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.
Currently Dr. Cañas is an active member of the Colorado Optometric Association and 2024
graduate of the LeadOn program through the COA.
Dr. Cañas enjoys all the wonderful outdoor activities the state has to offer. She enjoys running,
biking, skiing, kayaking, hiking, and paddle boarding. When she is not spending time with
family, she enjoys spending time out in her garden, as well as learning new cooking recipes. Dr.
Cañas is bilingual in Spanish and English and loves to see new patients!
La Dra. Cañas creció en la ciudad de Brighton, Colorado. Ella atendió la Universidad de Colorado
Boulder, donde obtuvo su Bachillerato de Artes en Fisiología Integrativa con un certificado en
Salud Publica. Durante su tiempo en Boulder ella fue miembro de la hermandad Pi Lambda Chi
Latina Sorority Inc. y del Grupo Folclórico de Boulder. Dra. Cañas atendió Midwestern University
Arizona College of Optometry donde graduó con su doctorado. Ella fue miembro de American

La Dra. Cañas le encanta participar en todas las actividades del campo que el estado ofrece. Le
gusta corre, andar en bicicleta, esquiar, kayak, senderismo, y surf de remo. Cuando no esta
pasando tiempo con la familia, le gusta pasar tiempo en su jardín y aprender nuevas recetas de
comida. ¡La Dra. Cañas es bilingüe en español e inglés y le encanta atender nuevos pacientes!
